The recurring cast works as a network. Every character has their own wishes, abilities, boundaries, humor, and relationships — and can surprise us depending on the story and context.
No single character needs to represent the entire autistic experience.
Children of the Vale
Friendships, contrasts, and different ways of participating create stories without establishing one correct way to be in the world.
Jojo
An autistic fox with lively social energy who is curious, affectionate, and talkative. Her verbal imagination turns small discoveries into games, theories, and adventures.
Leo
An autistic lion connected to music, sound, rhythm, and listening. His auditory sensitivity can bring wonder and creativity, as well as overload.
Pipo
An autistic otter attentive to patterns, stones, rhythm, and systems. His multimodal communication conveys thought, intention, humor, and preference.
Marcos
A curious, energetic autistic monkey who learns about the world by doing, testing, building, and turning ideas into concrete experiments.
Cora
A verbal, precise, logical, and investigative autistic rat. She enjoys words, facts, books, rules, and questions that reveal what is still unclear.
Alice
An autistic wolf connected to autonomy, boundaries, and loyalty. She chooses her relationships carefully and values the real option to say no or spend time alone.
Luke
A bee who notices routes, distances, and connections between people and places. He enjoys shared projects without giving up his individual freedom.
Adults in the community
Marta, Helena, and Sr. Miau have their own territories, relationships, and mysteries. They support the children without always having to know the answer.
Marta
A bear connected to care, home, and community. She offers presence, rest, food, and choices without automatically interpreting or deciding for others.
Helena
A kangaroo and teacher at Escola Safári. She creates conditions for experimenting, exploring, and learning, and adapts her plans when something does not work as expected.
Sr. Miau
An autistic adult cat connected to reading, gardening, routine, memory, and small mysteries. He is experienced, but he can also hesitate, make mistakes, and ask for support.
Differences belong in the story — they are not problems to correct.
Oral, non-oral, and multimodal communication are valid. Pauses, routines, headphones, regulatory objects, accommodations, and personal choices can be part of the characters' lives with respect, without becoming a scale of value.
